Common Questions
What people ask before reaching out
- What does therapy with you actually look like?
- The first session is a 50-minute conversation about what brought you in and what you want to be different. From there, we build a plan together — usually weekly sessions, in-person in Brandon or via telehealth anywhere in Florida. There is no homework you don't agree to. There is no pressure to share before you are ready.
- What insurance do you accept?
- Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield (including Florida Blue), Cigna/Evernorth, Optum, Oscar, and UnitedHealthcare. Self-pay rates are $120 per individual session and $135 per couples session. Superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement on request.
- Do you offer telehealth?
- Yes. Telehealth is available to anyone physically located in Florida. Sessions are held over a HIPAA-compliant video platform — no app to download for clients, just a link.
- What is ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy)?
- ART is a brief, evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD that uses guided eye movements to help the brain reprocess painful memories. Most clients see meaningful change in 1–5 sessions. It is faster than traditional talk therapy for trauma and does not require you to verbally re-tell the worst details.
- How is IFS different from regular talk therapy?
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) treats the mind as a system of "parts" — the protector, the inner critic, the wounded child — rather than a single self. Instead of fighting the parts of you that feel stuck, IFS helps you understand what each part is trying to do and lead from your calm, grounded core. It is especially useful for trauma, anxiety, and people who have already tried therapy that did not stick.
- Is this practice faith-based?
- Faith integration is available on request. Amanda is a Christian therapist and can incorporate faith into the work when clients want that. She also works with clients of every faith and no faith — and is LGBTQ+ affirming. The orientation of the work follows you, not the other way around.
